Mr. Mike Reynolds earned a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Composition from Brigham Young University (’05) and Master of Education Degree from Utah State University ('11). While at BYU, his original compositions and arrangements were featured on KBYU-FM and won recognition in the Meyhew Competition for Music Composition. Mike Reynolds also participated in the BYU Marching Band and other ensembles. He was Producer and Composer for Una Vida Mejor, which premiered at the 2008 Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, California, winning the Special Jury Award for Narrative Feature. That same film was later screened at the Flanders International Film Festival in Ghent, Belgium, a festival paying particular attention to music’s impact on film. For the last three years, Mr. Reynolds has been the Director of Music (Choir and Band) for Wayne High School and Wayne Middle School, located in picturesque Capitol Reef country. Mr. Reynolds is excited to be the new Director of Bands at Roy High School. He plans to continue the great music tradition already found at Roy High School and is looking forward to a successful future with The Roy High School Royal Marching Band.

Assistant Director & Percussion Advisor
Mike is beginning his sixth season as percussion instructor, and first as Assistant Director, for The Roy High School Royal Marching Band. He has been instructing drumlines and percussion ensembles for 12 years. He is a graduate of Weber High school where he served as section leader of the drumline for 2 years. He then instructed at Weber for 4 years under the direction of Mr. Joe Windsor. He has also assisted at Fremont and Bonneville He performed with the Weber State Wildcat Marching band for 2 seasons. In 1999 and 2000, he was head of the percussion program at the Northwest Marching Academy in Meridian, ID. He was named drumline instructor at Weber State University 2004-2006. He has worked at Roy High for the past 3 seasons helping develop not just a strong summer and fall drumline, but a competitive winterline and concert percussion program. Mike is currently playing with two show bands and continues his love of the "performance". He is looking forward to another great season with The Royal Drumline!
Kim started spinning for Weber High School in 1996 as a freshman. She was captain of the team for 2 years. Her senior year, they placed 1st at every competition and walked away with many caption awards. After graduating, she became the advisor to the Jr. Guard. In 2002, Kim was asked to be the co-advisor at Ben Lomond High School. She helped teach the marching band how to march and took the guard to winterguard competitions for 2 years. Kim had her first baby in 2004 and has been a full time mom since then. Kim is excited to be part of the staff for the Roy High School Royal Marching Band and Colorguard. Music is a very important part of her life and she will always have a soft spot for band. Her best friends and memories from school all involve band and guard. Kim wants the same for each member of the Royal Colorguard: to make awesome memories and to form lasting friendships.

Sam Mann
Assistant Colorguard & Dance Advisor
Sam Mann is currently serving her first year as the assistant advisor for the Roy High School Color Guard. Sam has danced for over 18 years and has training in many different styles and techniques. She was a 3 year member of the Roy High School Royalaires, where she served as secretary. She has taught dance and gymnastics at all age and skill levels for more than 5 years. She received her formal education from Utah State and Weber State in paramedics. She is trained in exercise science and has a passion for fitness. Sam loves teaching, especially at the high school age, and enjoys encouraging growth as successful students and athletes. Her favorite thing about guard is seeing the team’s confidence, abilities and friendships grow. In her free time, Sam enjoys cooking and traveling.
Andrew Wood
Visual & Marching/ Maneuvering Advisor
Andrew Wood has been involved with the marching arts for over a decade. Mr. Wood has performed with: Livermore High School Marching Band, principal trumpet; Weber State University Marching Band, lead trumpet and Drum Major; and the World Champion Concord Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps, lead trumpet (two seasons) and Head Drum Major for the Blue Devils B Corps. Mr. Wood’s teaching career began as a Visual Caption Consultant for Livermore High School in 2004. Since that time, he has also served as visual Consultant for Granada High School, Foothill High School, and Bella Vista High School in California. In 2007, Mr. Wood took a position with the Blue Devils “C” Corps as Visual Concept, Marching, Drum Major, and Brass Instructor and served as Marching and Visual Concept Instructor for the Blue Devils “B” Corps in 2010, helping them win the DCI Open Class Visual Performance and General Effect Titles as well as the DCI Fan Network Choice Award. In 2011, Mr. Wood took the position of Visual Caption Head with Weber State Indoor Percussion and helped them win the 2011 Outstanding Visual Award at Utah Winter Drumline Association Championships. Mr. Wood can also be credited with training the 2010 Drum Corps International Drum Majors of the Year for both Open and World Class. Mr. Wood co-founded the Rocky Mountain Association of the Marching Arts and is an active musician, educator, clinician and adjudicator in the Northern Utah area. He currently resides in Ogden, Utah.
